Callware Technologies Uncovers Next-Gen Callegra Unified Messaging Architecture; Code-named Alaska, the technical preview now offers a platform for Unified Messaging over XML Web Services.

SANDY, Utah, March 20, 2002 - Callware announced today the availability of the Alaska Technical Preview (ATP) for release to Callware partners and developers. The ATP is an early release of Callware’s next generation unified messaging architecture, Callegra .UM. Callware also announced the formation of the Callegra Developer Forum.

“The ATP is an important precursor to the actual release of the Callegra .UM products so that our developer partners have time to begin evaluating and building on the feature sets and functions available within Callegra XML Web Services,” said Rafael Ben-Ami, Director of Software Development at Callware Technologies. “The opportunity to add voice and fax messaging, and soon phone control and other advanced functions such as voice recognition and text-to-speech to other applications simply by consuming a web service gives our partners something totally new to look forward to. Voice and fax services will start adding value to applications we haven’t even imagined yet.”

Partners developing with the ATP will find two interfaces available, depending on the desired development environment. Callegra XML Web Services was developed under Microsoft .NET, and can be consumed by any XML Web Service capable environment. An associated library for use with traditional Microsoft Visual Environments, CWObject.dll, is also available with the ATP release. A complete Developer Guide is also available which includes installation, developer assistance, and explanations and examples of the ATP interfaces and functions.

Callegra XML Web Services contains functions ranging from administration services to user distribution list management. Methods allowing complete mailbox control, including login and authentication, message management, box configuration, greetings and schedules, and notification settings are all included in the ATP release. The CWObject library contains the same functions, but assists with the creation of XML statements allowing developers who are not as familiar with XML Web Services to use the powerful Callegra .UM voice and fax services in their own applications.

The Callegra Developer Forum will be developed allowing developers to make suggestions and find developer support. This private web site will encourage the Callegra Developer community to share ideas, and bring co-marketing opportunities for successful implementations.

The ATP release will have a limited database size and is not intended for production environments, however the Callegra .UM platform release will offer scalability from 4 to 144 ports of voicemail and subscriber size from 10 to over 100,000 users. The Callegra .UM platform release is targeted for July 2002. Interested partners and developers can contact Rich Jeffs at rjeffs@callware.com or 801-984-1100.
